Happy St George's DayPosted on 12:00am Wednesday 22nd Apr 2009 Happy St George's Day
St George's Day promotes our English heritage.
St. George is the patron saint of England. Very little is known about him, he is thought to have been born into a noble Christian family in the late third century in Cappadocia (an area which is now Turkey)
The emblem of St George is a red cross on a white background and is the flag of England. St George's emblem was adopted by Richard The Lion Heart and brought to England in the 12th century. The king's soldiers wore it on their tunics to avoid confusion in battle.
St George has been the patron saint of England since the 14th century but only 1 in 5 people know the 23rd April is St George's Day.
Happy St George's day from the angels at CCK we'll be flying the flag for St George.
